Matrix Fine Chemicals dedication to sustainability will fund collection efforts, providing vital support to community members. Members gather and exchange plastic for additional income and social benefits, including health, work and life insurance, digital connectivity, grocery vouchers, school supplies, and fintech services. Plastic Bank’s blockchain-secured platform guarantees traceable collection, secured income, and verified reporting. Gathered plastic is processed and reintroduced as recycled feedstock into the circular economy.

“We are confident that small and medium-sized companies can also make a valuable contribution to reducing plastic pollution in the world's oceans. At the same time, there is an opportunity to improve the living conditions of local people in their communities. Especially when other companies support projects of this kind, promising results can be achieved together”, said Raphael Schmid, CEO of Matrix Fine Chemicals GmbH.

David Katz, Founder and CEO of Plastic Bank, said: “Every business, regardless of size, can significantly reduce plastic pollution and empower communities to rise out of poverty. Now is the time for businesses to realign their strategies with the critical needs of our planet and its people. Businesses hold the power to transform our world with purpose-driven actions that echo across the globe.”

This partnership underscores Matrix Fine Chemicals commitment to embedding purpose into its core business operations. By doing so, Matrix Fine Chemicals exemplifies how corporate responsibility can drive meaningful change, creating a ripple effect that benefits both the environment and society.

To date, Plastic Bank has worked with over 51’300 collection community members across Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa to stop more than 169,294,765 kilograms of plastic – the equivalent of over 8,464,738,260 500ml PET bottles.
